Before you start

How to get a recording

You don't need a camera crew. A phone is enough, and a few points are a great place to start.

  1. Set your phone behind the baseline

Prop it against the back fence, your tennis bag, a water bottle, or anything stable. Keep the camera uncovered and make sure you and the court are in frame.

  2. Use a tripod or fence mount

A basic phone tripod works well. Place it on the ground behind the baseline, or use a mount that attaches to the back fence.

    Tripods to use

    Regular tripod

Any stable tripod with a phone holder and enough height will work. View tripod

    Fence mounts

Two options for attaching your phone to the back fence:

    Functional Tennis camera mount

An extension pole and phone attachment for an elevated view from the back fence. View Functional Tennis mount

You only need one option. Check that it fits your phone and court setup before buying.

  3. Ask someone to record you

A friend or hitting partner filming a few points is plenty.

  4. Start with footage you already have

Got a match recording or a clip from practice? Use that!

Quick tip: Film horizontally, keep your phone safely out of the playing area, and record a short test to check the angle. Capture the mistakes as well as the good shots.
